After serving most of the season as an “interim” head coach, Clemon Johnson has now been named the head coach, effective immediately, according to this release from the Athletic Dept.

In other men’s basketball news, here’s an article from the News-Miner earlier this week about the Nanooks’ rough season, and their look to bounce back.

Alaska bounced back on Thursday, not quite to victory, but definitely back in the game, as they lost to Seattle University 62-58, just four points. The last time the two teams met Seattle won by 22 points.

Tonight, the Nanooks take on the Montana State-Billings Yellowjackets. Newcomers to the GNAC, MSU’s only win this season has been over the Nanooks, and Alaska is hoping to keep the Yellowjacket’s win column at one.

Edited: 2/24 8:39 p.m. I incorrectly put the Nanooks’ previous score against Seattle Pacific (which was a verifiable blowout) instead of Seattle University.
