That’s about all there is to it. Powerplay goal from… I want to say Crowder? Yep, Crowder. We gave Seawolf goaltender Bryce Christianson his first collegiate career shutout… An exciting game, lots of hard hits, a few scuffles, an amazing crowd, some tradition stone action. Let’s get ‘em tomorrow night, boys!
Seawolf Fan’s version (Better than the official stuff put out by the schools)
Also, in other league news, Ohio State rallied Miami 6-2… maybe that’s not quite a rally, but it’s a rally for what it could mean for the Nanooks… if the teams tie tomorrow night, Ohio will be tied with the Nanooks in points, and will overtake them for fourth in the league due to the tiebreaking procedure, which means the Nanooks will not get a first-round bye for the CCHA playoffs. Cheer for those RedHawks!

Alright, off to high school state skiing for me in a sec. Here’s the News-Miner’s preview for this weekend’s Governor’s Cup series. Here’s the ADN’s blurb.
And Senior night won’t be the last home game for Alaska’s seniors.
Sorry, no preview from me

I don’t have any time right now, but this USCHO.com podcast features Chad Johnson, and the other top two goalies in the league, Jeff Lerg from MSU and Notre Dame’s Jordan Pearce, who hails from Anchorage.
Check it out, and don’t miss the game tonight!

Paula Weston, the CCHA blogger on USCHO.com, is putting out her picks for best player, etc. Nanooks that made her list:
Chad Johnson- runner up for player of the year
Dallas Ferguson- Coach of the year (does that need an explanation either?)
The Nanooks- team of the year
She also has her prediction for the outcome of the Governor’s Cup series this weekend.
And, just in case you didn’t get the memo, FRIDAY’S GAME STARTS AT 6:00 P.M.

Today’s News-Miner article on hockey is on senior captain Adam Naglich, who scored the winning goal in overtime of Saturday’s game against Ferris State.
Don’t forget! Pep Rally today from 1-2 at the Wood Center! and keep voting for Trevor Hyatt and Chad Johnson.

UAA Hockey fan has a pretty entertaining preview of this weekend’s Governor’s Cup series.
I don’t have a preview yet (and if I did, it sure as heck wouldn’t be that funny)… UAA’s media guide isn’t available online and I’ve been too caught up with this homework crap to call and see if they can e-mail me one. I suppose I could do it the good ol’ way and just look at their stats…
Remember, Friday’s game is at 6:00, not the usual 7.
Also, for those of you around UAF, there’s a pep-rally in the Wood Center from 1-2 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday. Free food! Hope to see you there!
Edited: While I don’t have a preview, I do have my editorial, which says what I think (in nice words) about the Gov. Cup being a one-weekend, home-and-home series. <insert sadface here>
CCHA considers changing goal-review format February 25, 2009

After a pretty contentious Michigan/Ohio game, (two Michigan goals disallowed when reviewed using just the overhead camera, when television cameras picked up other angles that gave a clearer view of what actually happened) and a Michigan/Notre Dame game last month (ND goal allowed even though it was kicked in– the kick was out of range of the overhead camera), the CCHA is considering changing the way goal reviews work. As of now, the only camera view that referees are allowed to use is the overhead (above-the-net) cameras, even if television networks have cameras there at better angles. The league is contemplating getting a portable set of cameras that could provide the rinks without the money or infrastructure to get the same kind of angles, and allow those other camera angles to be reviewed as well.
And here’s the News-Miner’s article on freshman Ron Meyers, the CCHA’s Rookie of the Week. His family was in town while he scored the game-winner against Ferris State. That’s nice for them.

Today’s editorial in the News-Miner praises the hockey team for finding just their third winning season since joining the CCHA in 1995 and making home playoffs.
The Sun Star’s editorial this week (which isn’t on stands yet… or online) is about the Governor’s Cup series. I’ll post it if it ever gets online (frustrating). Or I suppose if I go to the office I can copy-paste it from there…

Here’s a promo video for Trevor Hyatt, who was nominated for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award.
Also, freshman Ron Meyers was named the CCHA’s Rookie of the week for his goal and assist this weekend against Ferris State. Meyers put in the game-winning goal on Friday and added an assist on Saturday to help keep the Nanooks in the running for a first-round bye.
