About the Reporter
Hi everyone, I’m Kortnie Westfall, the Editor-in-Chief of the UAF Sun Star. This blog began as a class project in the fall of 2007 and has evolved into a frequently-updated part of the Sun Star.
As far as the “about me” part goes, I’m a senior double-majoring in New Media Journalism and English, with a minor in Sport Management. This is my third year with the Sun Star; I started out reporting and last year did a smattering of reporting, photography, and was the layout editor. This year, I’m editor-in-chief, so I don’t do a whole lot of the writing, but I’m keeping track of what other people are saying about the Nanooks here.
I’ve been involved in sports for as long as I can remember. From kiddie gymnastics to high school cross-country and competitive hockey, it seems like I’ve always been on the go. That love of sports has extended here to UAF, where I keep up with intramurals like broomball, soccer, lacrosse and volleyball, and do my best keep up with the Nanooks’ latest news.
This year, I may not be the only reporter blogging on here; but information about the reporters who do will be added. Also, once September rolls around, keep an eye on the Sun Star website! I have some great ideas for sports (and news) coverage that won’t be available in the print Sun Star.
